{"id":2282,"date":"2014-11-18T05:16:47","date_gmt":"2014-11-18T10:16:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/accelerateyoursearchnow.com\/blog\/?p=2282"},"modified":"2014-11-19T06:04:30","modified_gmt":"2014-11-19T11:04:30","slug":"the-black-hole-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/accelerateyoursearchnow.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/the-black-hole-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"The Black Hole &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fcbkbttn_like \"><fb:like href=\"http:\/\/accelerateyoursearchnow.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/the-black-hole-part-1\/\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\" layout=\"button_count\"  size=\"small\"><\/fb:like><\/div><\/div><div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2293\" src=\"http:\/\/accelerateyoursearchnow.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/black-hole.jpg\" alt=\"black hole\" width=\"292\" height=\"173\" \/>The Black Hole . . . is it real?<\/p>\n<p>Would you like to have a different experience?<\/p>\n<p>What exactly is the &#8220;Black Hole?&#8221; \u00a0For many seeking a new position, it is described as the experience of responding to job posting in one manner or another and then . . . receiving no reply or acknowledgment.<\/p>\n<p>Has this happened to you?<\/p>\n<p>If so, you may be asking why. \u00a0Or you may be, like many, simply ranting about it to all who will listen.<\/p>\n<p>If you want a different experience, here are few questions to ask yourself, followed by a little food for thought:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What was your expectation? \u00a0Why did you have that expectation?<\/li>\n<li>What is your relationship with the company and\/or person you contacted?<\/li>\n<li>Was your initial connection relevant and compelling?<\/li>\n<li>Did the receiving party agree to send you a response?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To lessen the chances you will experience the &#8220;Black Hole,&#8221; here are two possible options:<\/p>\n<p>First, what are the realistic expectations of this person or organization? \u00a0Take some time to gather the answers to the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who is the person or organization?<\/li>\n<li>What is the culture or what are the habits of person handling your correspondence?<\/li>\n<li>What connection have you made in advance of your reply to a posting\/lead?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Second, use the information and understanding you gathered to evaluate your expectations. \u00a0Are your expectations aligned with what will likely be delivered? \u00a0What facts, thoughts or beliefs do you have that will help you determine if your expectation is realistic in this situation?<\/p>\n<p>Third, note the\u00a0feelings, emotions and thoughts that created your expectation. \u00a0Do these align with the data you gathered in the first or second step above? \u00a0Or, are you simply projecting the way you do things onto another? \u00a0Example: \u00a0do you reply to every email, voicemail or piece of mail you receive and therefore believe all others should manage their business the same way?<\/p>\n<p>What is your experience with the &#8220;Black Hole?&#8221; \u00a0Will you have a different experience in the future?<\/p>\n<p>Please share your thoughts and comments on ways to avoid the &#8220;Black Hole&#8221; below.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Black Hole . . . is it real?
