{"id":571,"date":"2011-05-31T05:33:30","date_gmt":"2011-05-31T09:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/accelerateyoursearchnow.com\/blog\/?p=571"},"modified":"2011-05-21T10:57:23","modified_gmt":"2011-05-21T14:57:23","slug":"currently-unemployed-and-being-screened-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/accelerateyoursearchnow.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/currently-unemployed-and-being-screened-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Currently unemployed and being screened out?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fcbkbttn_like \"><fb:like href=\"http:\/\/accelerateyoursearchnow.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/currently-unemployed-and-being-screened-out\/\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\" layout=\"button_count\"  size=\"small\"><\/fb:like><\/div><\/div><p>No doubt you have heard all the conversations about companies who screen out those who are currently unemployed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some employers or hiring managers don\u2019t call or interview people with a status of \u201cunemployed\u201d. \u00a0Yes, your r\u00e9sum\u00e9 might be screened out in this way.\u00a0 In fact New Jersey now has a law that will fine employers who do this and other states may soon do the same.<\/p>\n<p>It is too bad that some employers may elect to use only your current employment status as a screening tool, but it is not <strong>new <\/strong>and may or may not end with new laws on the books.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What is your best defense?\u00a0 In my view your best defenses is your personal marketing,\u00a0your personal marketing plan and the execution of your plan.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Marketing is about overcoming the objections of the buyer. \u00a0An employer is the \u201cbuyer\u201d of your services.
